‘million in further education ministry funding for 4 Ly Fram page 1 One of the most complex projects is at Upper Lynn clementary, where work is expected to con- Houe until late next spring. _Among the work slated for Upper Lynn: seis- mic upgrading, anew raat the installauon of mechanical ventilation and air conditioning and an upgraded fire protection system. Four new computer labs, a) multi-purpose room, and the relocation of the administration office to the main floor will allow the school to get rid of its five portables. White said there may be some disruption to children and parents as ‘a result of the construc: tion work. On-site parking might be restricted at some schools — and children may start their class- ¢s in a portable and later be relocated to a main school building. He added that there would be “a lot of sand and gravel and dirt. There might be some more washing to do if kids have played in those areas.” Construction: work at Braemar elementary is also expected to finish next spring. Drawing to a close are improvement: projects at Capilano, Lonsdale, and Sherwood Park elementary, and Argyle and Handsworth secondary schools. Each will have new classrooms by the time the work is completed. . Accessibility and ventilation issues are also being addressed. As part of its five-vear capital plan, District 44 has an additional $27-million worth of upgrade Projects now at the design stage. The schools next earmarked for renovation are Boundary, Canyon Heights, Carisbrooke, Eastview, Lynnmour, and Norgate elementary, and Sutherland, Seycove, and Carson Graham secondary schools. The work will allow student capacity to grow from 850 to 1,200 at Sutherland and 427 to 700 at Seyeove. Boundary, Canvon Heights, and Carisbrooke will alf have full ventilation systems installed. A series of mechanical upgrades follow the findings of air quality assessments completed last spring. Finally, the district has requested another $28 additions and renovations to Balmoral, Windsor, Larson, Cove Cliff, Fromme, Ross Road, Lynn Valley, Highlands, and Canyon Heights schools. West Vancouver School District 45 is engaging only in minor capital works, having divided up the renovation of West Vancouver secondary into several phases.
