the development of
the Versatile Shipyard
lands will start this
summer, says a repre-
sentative of the prop-
erty’s owner.

Jay -Wollenberg — of

Coriolis Consulting Corp.,
told Worth Vancouver City
Council May 11 that reme-
diation of contaminated
soil, and other “Senviron-
mental concerns and tech-
nical issues” will be
resolved this summer.

He also told council that
an application for OCP
(Official Community Plan)
amendments has also been
submitted to the city.

First and second read-
ings of the changes to OCP
and a public hearing is also
hoped for next fall, he
added.

Lybrand Ltd. and the
Vancouver Port

Coun. Stella Jo Dean
was less impressed. She
asked Wollenberg if the
owners were going to pay
the city back for their con-
tribution ro the $290,000
cost of the Versatile land
use study.

“I objected to putting
up the moncy for the
study,” Dean said. “When
are we going to get the
money back?”

Wolienberg said the
owners preferred that the
money be paid back
through services to the city.
Bur later assured Dean that
the “a cheque will be cut
shortly.

According to Dean, the
city should be getting back
$67,333.
