Where do you start? The best place to start is right where you are, creating a profile of the home you want to buy, before you even start looking. Knowing what you want, where you can be flexible, and what you don’t want prior to beginning your search can save you time and help you zero in immediately on the right home. FRleal estate records set COUNTER TO a national levelling trend, the real estate industry in British Columbia reports an active 1987 and continuing brisk sales in the first month of 1988, according to the British Columbia Real Estate Association. Overall, 1987 showed an 8.2 per cent gain on 1986. Commenting recently on the year’s performance, Barry Clark, president of the B.C. Real Estate Associa- tion, said, “B.C.’s 13 real estate boards recorded steady, and often spec- tacular, gains for 1987."' “The major urban centres of Vancouver, Fraser Valley, and Victoria,’’ said Clark, “report particularly healthy increases in both dollar vol- ume and residential units sold. For example, the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board broke all records for the second year in a row, posting a 25 per cent gain year-over-year, “Likewise, Greater Van- couver recorded a booming 1987, the third consecutive year of flourishing activity. The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver clocked total residential and com- mercial 1987 sales of 23,895 units for a value of $3.9 billion, a 38 per cent increase over 1986's record $2.32 billion.
