UNICEF NOTE cards for
Mother’s Day gifts will be on sale
this weekend at Lonsdale Quay.

Volunteers will be selling the
selection of spring note cards
Saturday and Sunday, May 2 and 3
during market hours.

The United Nations Children’s
Fund (UNICEF) advocates and
supports programs to improve the
health of children and to help

Spinal Health

NORTH SHORE mayors will be
proclaiming May 1 to 7 Spinal
Health Week.

There will also be information
sessions on spinal. health held in
North and West Vancouver during
the week.

Local school boards have also
been contacted in an effort to en-
courage awareness of spinal ‘health
for children.

School districts have been asked

for UNICEF

mothers understand ways to im-
prove children’s health.

Proceeds from one box of cards
will provide enough vaccine to
immunize 60 children against
tuberculosis, or provide enough
high-dose vitamin A tablets to pro-
tect 90 toddlers against nutri-
tionally-caused blindness, or pro-
vide enough oral rehydration salts
to protect 40 children against
dehydration.

Week declared

to distribute an information book,
entitled The Discoveries of Inspec-
tor Spine.

Posture screenings and
workshops on spinal health are be-
ing scheduled for the West Van-
couver Recreation Centre.
