Al2 - Sunday, March 14, 1982 - North Shore News Stan Collier dies at 85 A FORMER REEVE of West Vancouver, associated with an important phase of the municipality's develop- ment, passed away last week. Stanley G. Collier died suddenly March 9 while on vacation in Arizona. He was in his 86th year. A resident of West Van- couver since 1940, Mr. Collier served as a member of West Van council from 1957 to 1958 and as reeve {the office later designated as mayor) from 1958 to 1962. It was during this period that much of the development of modern Ambleside was initiated. Formerly owner of Colliers Ltd.. a Vancouver GM dealership, Mr. Collier was the son of a pioneer Salvation Army officer. He himself was closely associated with the Army and was bandmaster of the Salvanon Army Temple Band for 20 years. He was also a staunch member of the West Van Kiwanis Club. He 1s survived by his wife, Anne: sons Stanley and Greg: daughter’ Ethel Gillingham, five grandsons, three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. A memonal service was held Saturday at West Van United Church with Reverend Tom Ohver of- ficiaung. In lieu of flowers the family requested donations | to a chanty of the donor's choice or to the Vancouver Salvation Army Temple Building Fund.
