areas where 2, 4-D has been

used by the authority? As
you_know, cancer character-
istically occurs about 20
years after exposure anid it is
possible that effects in the
valley may only now begin to
appear.

Finally, doesn’t the fact
that TVA is still using 2, 4-D
after 20 years suggest that it
does not solve the protlem?
Isn’t it a fact that the only
really effective way to conizol
milfoil is to stop poliuting the
lakes?

As the man we _ look to for
protection against environ-
mental dangers, could you
comment on these ques-
tions? Could you ask your
advisers if they consider my
information to be correct? If
not, what is the source of
their counter-information? If
my information is correct,
then we must assume that
there will be cases of cancer
and birth defects. Can you
tell mie how many cases you
would consider acceptable in
combatting the milfoil nuis-
ance?
