Watercolor course

THE WEST Vancouver Recreation
Centre welcomes a new watercolor
painting instructor this fall.

Teressa Bernard will teach the
intermediate/advanced watercolor
program on Wednescays, 9 a.m. to
noon, starting Sept. 27, and the
fall session of the beginner water-
color program on Mondays, 9 a.m.
to noon, starting Sept. 25.

Bernard is a recent recipient of
three awards for her watercolor
paintings through the Federation

of Canadian Artists. She began
exploring watercolor painting in
1980 when she took a series of
workshops with the now famous
Byron Lance King through the
federation. She started doing
commission paintings in 1986.
Participants in the intermedi-
ate/advanced watercolor program
will have a chance to paint in the
company of other artists. There
will be demonstrations exploring
different approaches with water-

color. Optional group exercises
will be presented including matting
and framing of finished work.

The beginner watercolor paint-
ing program on Mondays offers a
traditional approach to the basics
of watercolor painting including
colar theory, mixing, and painting
techniques.

a creative cook

TWO THREE-hour courses in creative cooking are on stream this fall
at the West Vancouver Seniors’ Activity Centre.

Romy Reiman will demonstrate Do Ahead Meals on Monday, Sept.
25, from 9 a.nt. to noon.

“This session will inspire you with freezer hollandaise, herb butters,
ham/Ieck casserole au gratin and more,’ said Reiman.

She will also give a session in seafood cooking on Oct. 3 from 7 to
10 p.m. Dishes include mussel soup and zesty ciopino.
