Prote submitied NS Continuing Ed class offers lectures on Britain TAKE A lecture course and travel to Britain in class. North Shore Continuing Education is once again offering travel courses as part of their mini-lecture series. For some, 2 trip to Britain is a once-in-a-lifetime excursion or on- ly an armehair journey. For Van- couverite Audrey Sullivan, who leads the course, it's been a yearly event for the past 20 years. She calls ner annual four-month jaunts “working holidays’ as she escorts small groups through the ‘British Experience’’ of castles, cathedrals, small villages, walks on spectacular coastal footpaths and a mix of old inns, fine hotels and private home bed and breakfasts. “The time abroad each year helps me keep updated on prices, trends and new travelling ideas,"* she says. “I am able to pass along advice and practical hints to the people in my courses who are planning their own trips or who are content to do a litle armchair travelling.” Sullivan's ever-expanding banks of information are brought to her evening courses Travelling in Bri- tain. Twelve sessions in all, they are usually offered separately so individuals can choose their favorite areas. The Lake District and Yorkshire begins the 22-hour evening series at Carson Graham School on Oct. 8, followed by Devon and Corn- wall on Oct. 15, at $10 per session. An all-day Traveller in London course on Sept. 26 at $25 and a half-day Canal Boating in Britain course on Nov. 14 at $15 will be held as part of the Night School in a Day program. The classes, now going into their seventh year, are taught with thou- sands of slides, tapes and souvenirs fike brass rubbings, British handi- crafts, chalk from the cliffs of Dover and bargains from the se- conds shops at Wedgewood and Royal Worcester factories.
