On assuming the mayor’s chair, my first recommendation to counci} was to establish a solid waste committee to look at the Premier Street landfill operations and alternatives for garbage disposal. Council voted unanimously to close Premier St. by year end, an action | heartily en- dorse. We do not con- sider it a suitable site and there are alternatives. Even the LMRP report, in outlining two optional closing dates for Premier _ St. does not recommend full use of the area.
