The North Shore In- termediate Care Society - formed by the North Vancouver Kiwanis Club. the Royal Canadian Legion's West Vancouver, North Vancouver and Lynn Valley branches, the Army Navy and Air Force Veterans of North Vancouver and the West Vancouver United Church - plans a_ tree- planting ceremony to mark the start of construction of ther =150-bed Cedarview Lodge in Lynn Valley. Two of the North Shore's MLA’s - Hon. Jack Davis and Angus Ree have in- dicated they will attend, as will federal government representative Senator Ray Perrault, and officials from all three North Shore municipalities. According to Mavis Stanfield, the B.C. Government's Intermediate Care representative for this area, Cedarview Lodge may be unique in that so many different clubs and societies have banded together to build and operate one large facility to serve the whole North Shore. “The Netherlands Society and the Bnai Bnth have co operated in creating the Haro Park Lodge in the West End in Vancouver,” she says, “and that has worked very well. We fully expect that this multiple approach will be equally successful. The member groups all have Introducing... GRUMMAN ™= Only Canoe Vou Should Ever Have To Buy 198? This covers the costs to completion of the building, but the society is faced with raising some $200,000 from the community to provide furnishings. With assistance from the sponsoring clubs, the group plans a major fund-raising appeal this summer, and will start a membership drive shortly. All interested residents are invited to attend the ceremonies this Saturday. A band concert is planned for 1:30 p.m. with the tree- planting to follow.
