an in-depth look at the pro-
vincial forest industry as
part of a national study-tour
sponsored by the Canadian
government.

The Council of Forest Industries
of B.C. (COFD) recently arranged a
five-day program for the group in
B.C., where they toured lumber
and plywood mills and local and
interior-area shipping operations.

The mission was headed by
Austin Lockyer, director general
of the UK Timber Trade Federa-
tion.

Trade briefings and discussions
with senior COFI, government and
industry officials were also on the
agenda. The United Kingdom is an
important export market for B.C.
forest products.
