West Van to buy bus shelters

DESPITE Ald. Gordon
Rowntree’s insistence that
West Vancouver council
shouldn’t be in the bus
shelter business, council will
go ahead to keep bus pas-
sengers dry.

Last October, council
decided to discontinue a
contract with Seaboard
Advertising to provide il-

luminated advertising bus
shelters in the municipality.

Two shelters were erected
on Marine Drive on a trial
basis last year.

Council decided Monday
night that the shelters, along
with the advertising, will be
permitted until April, allow-
ing Seaboard 10 recoup its
capital costs of concrete pad
