Taylor — who missed be- ing elected in 1981 by fewer than 90 votes, coming seventh for the six alder- manic vacancies — believes his candidacy represents a response to the public’s desire for change. ‘*l behleve the duty of City council extends beyond mere maintenance of the = status quo,’’ he declared. ‘*The cur- rent economic climate and actions of the provincial government have placed an additional burden on, and created new responsibilities for the municipality. DANA TAYLOR “‘The electorate recognizes these occurrences and is therefore ready to support a new council that is prepared to respond to change.’ A ‘‘sound management plan,’’ Taylor said, demands that council must hold a com- prehensive view of people's expectations for the future. ‘‘How will this city progress when dominated by an ele- ment on council preoccupied with remaining the same?’’ he asked. Among specific campaign issue he stresses protection of municipal autonomy, a local- ly initiated economic recovery program, develop- ment of community facilities and more efficient delivery of services. An administrator with a construction association and a Lower Lonsdale family homeowner, Taylor has serv- ed five years on the Advisory Planning Commission, six on the board of North Shore Neighborhood House and also as a Recreation Commis- sioner and Arts Council director.
