The early identification
and treatment of speech and
language disorders in
children is of wital impor-
tance to. facilitate normal
development.

Therapy for children with
fluency problems is provided
by a staff of three part-time
Speech Language
Pathologists employed by the
North shore Health Depart-
ment. The program is funded
entirely by local municipal
taxes and 1s unique to the
North Shore.

Assistance with com-
munication disorders related
to Speech and = lLanguage
disturbances, voice pro-
biems, and stuttering, is also
available to adult residents of
the North Shore upon refer-
