B4 - Wednesday, March 9, 1983 - North Shore News St. Thomas Aquinas tops at table tennis St. Thomas Aquinas players accumulated enough wins and points at the recent North Shore Secondary Schools Athletic Association table tennis tournament to earn the highest team aggregate total and the blue ribbon. Players from Aquinas, Carson Graham, Argyle and West) Vancouver _ par- ticipated in the day long tourney held March 2 at Big ride for Krogh Tim Krogh of North Vancouver made an im- pressive start to the 1983 motocross season, placing first, second and fifth in the three classes Sunday in Aldergrove. Krogh, riding for Honda Canada, made his first start im many years on a 125cc bike, but took his Honda to a fifth and sixth in Sunday’s two heats, taking fifth overall. The 195 pound racer was at a distinct disad- vantage racing against riders Aquinas. Most schools were represented in each age category, except the senior girls which had only Aquinas players. At the senior level, Carson Graham eamed the boys’ aggregate ttle with 23 points, with Aquinas and Argyle following with 12 and 10 respectively. Top players were Christer Henriksson (CG), Tomik Yaghoobian (STA) and Ali Izedi (CG) in ~spark Plugs and R & M Motocross. Kevin Zilkey of North Vancouver took second place in the 250cc Senior class. Zilkey rode to a pair of third place finishes, and missed first overall by one point. the singles and Henriksson and Izedi (CG) in the doubles. The girls’ title was held by Aquinas, with no. other challengers. Top singles were Beryl Hockey, Olivia Law and Mimi Young with Hockey and Law taking the doubles. Other results include: Junior boys: |. West Van 2. Carson Graham, 3. Argyle: 1. Roland Lam Next weekend in Kamloops, Krogh and Zilkey will be competing in their respective 250cc classes for B.C. Cham- pionship points in Kamloops. Krogh is more at home on the big bikes, and he showed it as he placed second in the 250cc class with second and fourth place moto finishes. Bob Van Diemen won the race. Van Diemen is from Keremeos and will be one of Krogh’s main rivals in the upcoming 250cc Cham- pionship races. Krogh, winner of the last two 500cc B.C. titles, started off the year in familiar fashion, winning both heats of the class for an easy first overall. Tim spent three weeks in California this year racing and preparing for the year. He hopes to improve on his fourth place finish in fast year's National senes. Runners-up Lynnwood Hotel defeated Caribbean Stars 5-3 while the third- place Aardquin Con- struction downed Olympics 5-2. Al Harrington and Trevor Brooker scored goals as Olympia Gold Caps upset Molsons with Tommy Quinn tallying for the losers. Park Royal jumped into sixth place by _ beating Superstars 3-1! and = John Palmer earned the shut-out as fourth-place Lynn Valley blanked Eagle Harbour 4-0.
