FAIR in the Square is
under new ownership but
it’s anyone’s guess who’s
the boss.

When Val LeMaitre sold the con-
signment shop in November, Joy
Farquhar was the name on the new
lease. But Farquhar, a former execu-
tive assistant, says she’s not working
alone.
“Actually, my golden retriever
(Tala) runs the store and I work
for him,” jokes the
longtime West Van res-
ident of the shop’s
ever-present mascot,
Tala.
“Truly, I bought the
store for him,” she
continues, explain-
ing that buying the
shop was a way to
escape the long hours she
worked in the banking
industry.
You'll find Farquhar in the
store 11 to 5, Tuesday
through Saturday. For the
last two weekends in
December only, the store
will be open Sunday and
Monday.
Expect, also, to find lots
of glamorous get-ups
like beaded gowns,

tion, called simply Kenda. Career sports-

shirting.

Q: How should I care

for my scarf?

@ Keeping your beautiful scarf

clean is really just common sense.
Don't wear foundation on your neck
as it will rub off onto your scarf and
soil it.
Please don't try to "freshen up” your
favorite perfume on it; this can cause
permanent damage to the dyes on
the fabric. Similarly, because so
many hairsprays and spray gels
contain alcohol, never spray them on
while wearing a scarf because it may
damage the dyes. Either drape a
towel over your shoulders, or wait
until your "do" is done before putting
on your scarf. It's tempting to want to
"spot-clean” your sild scarf - but don't
even think about it! The moisture
may leave behind a ring, making the
former spot even more noticeable
and potentially cause color loss or
change. Instead, take the scarf
immediately to your cleaner for
proper care. Be sure to point out any
stains or spots; and, whenever
possible, tell your cleaner the source
tot he stain (eg., salad
dressing, lipstick).
