Two suspects were arrested in
North Vancouver early Feb. 14
after Grindrod and police dog
Trooper were called in to help
North Vancouver RCMP in-
vestigate a theft from an
automobile.

The dog team arrived at the
3200-biock of Tennyson Crescent
at 5:10 a.m.

Trooper followed a trail of
stolen goods discarded by the
thieves as they attempted to clude
police.

Earlier, the West Vancouver
dog team was called to the !00-
block of West Sixth Street in
North Vancouver to assist North
Vancouver RCMP in the search
for a suspect in a stolen auto case.

A Toyota 4X4 pickup truck,
stolen in North Vancouver, had
been abandoned by the driver.
Trooper tracked north from the
vehicle to a bush area near an
alley at West 13th Street.

The suspect attempted to run
from the dog, but was apprehend-
ed,

The vehicle was recovered and the
MANFRED SCHMITZ was fined
$1,000 Feb. 6 in North Vancouver
provincial court after he pleaded
guilty to failing to file his 1988 T1!
income tax return, an offence
under the Income Tax Act.

Both Manfred and Sandra
Schmitz pleaded not guilty to two
charges of failing io provide
statements to Revenue Canada.

A trial date for the Schmitzs
has been set for April 5.

Schmitz’s wife, Sandra Schmitz,
was fined $3,000 after she pleaded
guilty to three charges under the
Income Tax Act: failure to file her
1988 TI income tax return and
two counts of failing ‘to file T2
income tax returns for the taxa-
tion years ending 1987 and [988
for V.A. Refinishing Inc., of
which she is a director.

She was also ordered to file all
of the returns in 90 days.
