Drama classes teach
children self-expression

CHILDREN ARE learning the art of self-expression
through creative drama classes this summer at the
West Vancouver Recreation Centre.

The use of creativity and imagination are key fac-
tors in developing the children’s social and acting
skills through areas of drama such as pantomime,
improvisation, acting games, storytelling, dress ups
and stage makeup.

Instructor Monica Marko was schooled at New

York's Amcrican Academy of Dramatic Arts and has
performed in films and on television and radio. Still
a professional actress when not teaching, Marko has
a unique approach in stimulating creativity and in-
volvement in her participants, says the centre.

The final session for the summer runs Aug. 15 to
19, 1 to 3 p.m. for 9 to 12 year olds. Advance regis-
