water well

dependent on the Greater
Vancouver Regional District
(GVRD) water supply as other local
municipalities, West Vancouver
engineer Doug Wylie told West

The aunicipal water system is
somewhat complicated thanks to
West Vancouver's relatively steep
topography and its three sources of

water,

GYRD water from the Capiisno
Dam enters West Vancouver from
the east al Millstreant Road in the
British Propertics, Mathers Avenue
and Keith Road.

“Much of it has to be pumped up /

steep slopes-to be fed into homes
the eastern and central part of West
Varcouver. /

‘The Eagle Lake reservoir sup-
plies West “Vancouverites living to
the west of Cypress Creek.

and save the municipality an annual
$250,000 in water purchases from
the GVRD. In hot summer months,
when Eagle Lake is low,’ more of

the GVRD supply. - ;

The Eagle Lake supply must be
chlorinated bu! it does not need as
much treatment as does GVRD
water. Turbid water requires higher
amounts of chlorine for purification.

Wylie said filtration-ozone treat-
ment of water would cost an esti-
mated $400 per household (an
