the 1987 municipal grant alloca-
tions as recommended by the advi-

sory commission on community
services.

“We had a wish list of $551,000
and $170,000 was given out — an
increase of over $40,000 over last
year,’ said junior ald. Paul
Hargreaves, in speaking to the mo-
tion. ‘The money was well-spent
and the requests were reasonable.”’

Among the 44 grant allocations
approved were 340,000 to Pres-
entation House, $28,000 to Silver
Harbour Centre, $15,000 to North
Shore Family Services Society,
$14,000 to North Shore
Neighborhood House and $8,000
to North Shore Crisis Services
Society.

RUNNING OUT of gas and runn-
ing out on the bill landed a 21-
year-old Richmond man in court
charged with theft under $200.
Malcolm John Fastuck pleaded
guilty to the charge after Esso Ser-
vice Station, at 15th Street and

Pastuck appeared in West Van-
couver provincial court May 4 and
was ordered to pay $53.80 in
restitution, do 25 hours of com-
munity work and he was placed on
One year’s probation.

He was arrested by West Van-

couver Police after the March 22
theft.

leaving without paying his gas bill.
