Dear Editor:

Here is yet another Gand proba-
bly not the last) comment on The
War Games Matter.

When f first heard of the plan, I
too was angered and concerned.
Bue — it was a result of my own
confusion over exactly where the
games were to be held.

Um mentioning this because ap-
parently there are quite a few
others out there suffering from the
same confusion. Alison J.
Brookfield’s letter of September 3
specifically got me wondering hov
many others are mistaking one
lodge and area for another.

When I first heard of the war
games | had a little fit of outraged
indignation myself. | thought they

were going to be played an part of
the park (Cypress) and 1 figured
(rightly so, if such was the case!)
that such activities don’t belong in
our parks. Uothink Uve pot it
straight now though,

The gaines were to he held near
Cypress Mountain) Lodge on
private land owned by that lodge's
owners. Right? Not on park land
and not near either Cypress Alpine
Lodge or Hollyburn Lodge.
Right!?

Or course if Mim serif wrong UU
just have to have another fit and
joiu the protest group!

As for the war games
themselves, | have no objections
and see nothing ‘wrong’ with them
as they are. Actually 1 can see

what's ‘wrong’ with them but like
most sensible, thinking people |
can differentiate between reality
and fun.

Im solidly in the pacifist camp
but 1 can step back, look at the
whole picture, and say to the
hardiiners, ‘‘Lighten up, eh!!’

Now, I find that rather than ob-
jecting to the games, I'm opposed
to interference and obstructionist
tactics of the local (West) Van-

couver) politicians — especially the
mayor.

The firearms und zoning tactics
seem to be lame ducks at best. The
two youny men trying to get this
enterprise going are certainly get-
ling an education on many of the
frustrations and roadblocks
(especially political) involved.
