Toe in Canada employs some 600,000 people ditectly, involves
61,000 enterprises and generates 18 billion dollars in business activity. -
Beyond this, it affects every one of us in one way or another. Agricul-
_ ture; fisheries, construction, transportation, recreation and entertain-
*. ment all benefit greatly. Tourism pays dividends to all Canadians and
, ‘everyone of us is a host to.the country’s visitors. |
- Up until now, however, Canada has lacked coordinated Tourism:
strategy - which explains, in part, why our share of world travel has
been cut in halfin the last decade. -
To ‘turn this, situation around, we must. first nderstand the
problems:and opportunities, which is why we've decided to publish .
~... facts and information in a ‘réport called TOURISM "TOMORROW:
- ‘TOWARDS A ‘CANADIAN TOURISM
' STRATEGY.
It’s not so much a ‘formal plan as it is
a compilation of ideas. 1 invite you to read
the document and share your responses
