50 days in jail for failing to pay tickets

MINEOLA, N.Y. (UPI) -
A judge refused Wednesday
to release a woman who is
serving 50 days in jail for
failing to pay $4,915 in
parking tickets.

Natasha Moscowitz, 27,
sought her release on the
ground that the sentence for
not paying 14 parking tickets
was “cruel and inhuman”
treatment.

“The other inmates aren't

very friendly and 20 or 30
mice run around my cell
every night,’’ said
Moscowitz, who has already
served nine days in Nassau

He told Moscowitz she
had shown “a cavalier at-
titude” about the tickets,
which she received over two
years.
