(Ken Oxenham photo) Horseshoe Bay to launch own daycare service Horseshoe Bay parents are for the first time ever being offered the opportunity to get a daycare service established in the area. One of the most common questions received by the committee of Gleneagles Community Elementary School from parents of families newly arrived in Horseshoe Bay is: What daycare facilities are there? Every time the question is asked the parent gets the same stock answer: None. Now the school has decided to take the incentive in coming to grips with the problem which seemed to be getting no nearer to a solution. As coordinator Peter Cotton says: “Both qualified staff and a suitable facility are already available in Horseshoe Bay.” Cotton has called a meeting designed to launch a Horseshoe Bay PDaycare Society to help meet the needs of the increasing number of working mothers and single parent families. The meeting will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m., in the community school lbrary Bay residents quiz new zoning New zoning proposals for Horseshoe Bay will be the lively topic at a meeting this Tuesday, May 20, between Alderman David Finlay. West Vancouver senior planner Steve Nicholls and the Horseshoe Bay Com munity Association. Staff of the North Shore Day Care’ Information Service and the North Shore Community Care Facilities Licensing Department will be on hand with information and advice and babysitting will be available at the meeting. Instructed by Byrnice Agnew, who has been in the field for the past thirteen years managing residential properties, apartments, commercial buildings, and condominium units, this course will look at what exactly property manage- ment is, and how to best go aboulit. “Many people,” explains Agnew, “just grow up in the field without understanding what the total scope of this yob ts.” Agnew will be dealing with that and with the emotional, educational and personality require- ments that fit the yob. “Property management is a vocavion which demands considerable knowledge,” says Agnew, “but above all it requires a knowledge and understanding of people.
