Liberals .......147 (114)
Conservatives. ..102 (136)
NDP .......... 32 ( 27) °
Social Credit - 90 ( 5)
Deferred....... 1 ( 9O)
The main changes by
provinces: .
Maritimes (32 seats):
Liberals gained six seats.
Quebec (75 seats): Liberals
won 73 seats — six more

than last time.

Ontario (95 seats): Liberals
gained 23 seats for a total of
55. Conservatives dropped
from 57 to 34. The NDP held
steady with six seats.

Prairies (49 seats): Liberals
held their two existing seats
in Manitoba but won none in
Saskatchewan or. Alberta.
The NDP gained a couple of
seats each in Manitoba and
Saskatchewan. All Alberta's
21 seats went to the Con-
servatives.

B.C. (28 seats): Con-
servatives lost four seats to
the NDP but won one from

the Liberals, who were
blanked.

Nationwide, the popular
vote percentages broke

It was quickly decided by

North Vancouver Dihistrict
council Monday that its
policy of underground

wiring in new subdivisions
would not apply to one lot of
a recently subdivided area
on Violet Street.

The reason for this was
that Geoffrey Rattee, 4052
Violet, — the first lot on a
newly opened end of the
street — has an existing
utilities pole mght at the
south-east corner of his lot.

In a letter to council
Rattee advised that while he
appreciated that un-
derground servicing may be
desirable his cost for
hooking up to sub-surface

And he said he could be
connected to the existing

operating pole for a mere
$10.00.

“If I am compelled to
hook up via the underground
service,” wrote Rattee, “]
will be in the unfortunate
position of having to pay
extra for a service which is
supposed to eliminate the
need for ugly poles, yet I will

have such a pole right
outside my living room
window.”
