THE MAGNIFICENT BEECHES located across from St. John’s Anglican Church in ° ‘North Vancouver will continue to provide shade for years to come if City council has their way. They have requested that the developer of the land save the trees. (Ian ‘Smith photo). Three copper beech trees located. across from St.John’s Anglican Church in North Vancouver, will be saved from demolition, if the developer of the land acts on the advise of City council. City council voted to point out the value of the trees to residents of the city, to the NV City moves to save ‘magnificent’ trees developer, and to ask him if he would mind saving them. Council passed the motion after receiving letters from the North Van Arts Council and a number of private Citizens, requesting the trees be saved. ‘I trust that you will save those magnificent copper beech trees which have given much pleasure to many people over the years,’ one of the letters said. It was pointed out to council that now the developer owns the land, he can do what he likes with the trees, and the most council could practically do is enter a ‘strong plea’ to save them.
